So I’m sitting in a Wimpy at Canal Walk and just enjoying the humdrum of people around me. Personally I can’t believe people still have money after the Christmas Season. Either that or they’re maxing out Credit Cards to be here. Because the mall is FULL!
I had a great time on VOC-FM this morning. Getting myself into the groove of co-hosting with Leila on Matters that Matter and I’m finding the “playground” a lot of fun. Been wondering if I shouldn’t find a small station that will give me my own show? Maybe something on Social Media 2.0? Call it “In your Face-book” or something? Of course, the beauty of Social Media is that if I really wanted to, I could start my own radio station. Internet Radio has been around for a while … just hasn’t picked up in SA because of our bandwidth issues.
There was all this talk of Neotel giving us cheaper bandwidth, but I just don’t see it happening. Their uncapped option is still out of reach for most people at R999/month. Imagine asking an American to fork out $100 a month for Internet. And then look at the speed: Peak Download at 2.4Mbit – heavens people, in most civilised world it’s 8Mbit standard!
Of course, TIA (This is Africa) – and I choose to live here. But if I look at it from a sideline perspective Telskum – I mean Telkom – still offer a better solution.
So … 2009 is on it’s way, some 3 days away. Apparently the Muslims are Celebrating their New Year today, but they don’t make too much of a fuss.
