Game Stores, Sales Staff, Sales Training
On Saturday I saw a dishwasher for sale at Game. It’s a specific model I’ve wanted and it was R300 less than the normal selling price. I’ve been saving up for one, but didn’t have my bank card with me.
Anyway, on Tuesday I return with bank-card in hand only to see the special is over. Now look, I’m in sales. I believe everyone is in sales … and I wanted the dishwasher at the special price.
1. The salesrep was half-insulted that I would actually ask for a discount. (Do I look white-trash?)
2. The manager made me feel like a criminal. He was beyond rude. He told me that he refused to justify a R300 discount to his superiors.
OK, maybe I’m making a mountain out of a mole-hill but I have learnt that you’ve got to make a sale. On a R3500 item, R300 is very little, and having a sister in imports/exports, I also know the kind of markup they’re putting on those things.
They did lose the sale. I’ll rather negotiate a better price at Tafelberg, where the staff are friendly and are empowered to negotiate discounts.
To the people at Game: Catch a wake-up call. A customer should be treated with RESPECT, not disdain. And please give your staff proper team/sales training. Next time I’ll be taking photo shots of the insulters.

app store, apple, iPhone, itunes
I converted to using Apple in January 2007 and absolutely love using Apple Products. In fact, I’m busy typing this post on the very first macbook I ever bought. So, when Apple announced they were developing a mobile phone, I was ecstatic.
Of course, I had to import an iPhone 1.1.2 from the US and have it jailbroken. There are some distinct disadvantages to using a jailbroken phone. Firstly,
you have no access to the itunes store, so you can download any cool apps. And secondly you have to be so careful of bricking the phone. I did it twice to mine!
So yesterday I finally got an iPhone 3GS as I qualified for a free upgrade on my cellphone contract. What a difference! Yes, Yes, call me a late-adopter … but this 3GS is amazing! It’s incredibly fast compared to the iPhone 1.1.2 – the app-store is genius.
My faith in Apple is still unwaivering.

blog awards, Chris Mills, goal setting, imod.co.za
OK. I remember at the beginning of the year I promised myself I would be a better blogger. I mean,
someone like Chris Mills from imod.co.za – this guy is an amazing blogger. He’s like the uber-blogger in South Africa as far as I’m concerned.
But it didn’t work. I mean, even twitter has fizzled out.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I didn’t have time … it’s just that I ask myself: What am I gonna blog about? I sit down and get ready to write and then every idea I’ve had goes out the window.
I need a routine. I mean, the perks of being an Internet Marketer are awesome. I can, if I want, only work 4 hours a week. The problem is that I end up filling the rest of the week with stupid stuff.
And now the year is over. I didn’t win the Blog Awards 2009 like I had hoped. Ha! But there is always next year.

Until later!
