Busy trawling the web this evening and I saw an article on marcforrest.com that Vodacom has finally released Visual Voicemail.

I think this is one of the nicest features of the iPhone and I’ve been bitterly disappointed that it has not been available. the basic premise is that instead of listening to all your voices (normal 121) I can actually SEE who called me, and choose who to listen to. This feature will cost R10.00 per month, which is a little disappointing. I really don’t see why Vodacom needs to charge for a service like this.

Apparently, as an iPhone user, simply SMS VVM ON to switch it on or VVM OFF to turn it off again. I’ve given it a shot and keep getting error messages, so I’ll see what Vodacom Help can do for me.

Yesterday I was talking to someone at work and was telling her that I got an important voicemail, which I needed to listen to, but I knew that I had 50 odd voicemails before that which I hadn’t listened to. In other words, I’d have to listen to 50 before getting the one I wanted!

This service is going to be the perfect fix!

Yup – I also have a nasty habit of wanting to check voicemails at restaurants/coffee shops. Can get really noisy and then you can’t hear the voicemail. This way I can scroll through it to see if anyone important is trying to get hold of me.
