Do you Buzz?

The last two products released by Google have been complete flops in my personal opinion.

Firstly, there’s Google Wave – which was meant to completely redefine the way we collaborate and work on projects together. There was the big hype, the exclusivity and the total need to get an invite and now … Blam! Splat! I don’t know anyone who has asked me for my Wave details to work on a Project.

And then there is Google Buzz – Google’s answer (if any) to the wonderful world of Twitter. No Character Limits is supposed to be the big appeal but for once, I think, Google was the Midget trying to squash the Giant. I’m sorry, but I don’t want to log into Gmail to read my Buzz. I already have to keep an eye on my two blogs, facebook and twitter.

I don’t know how much Google spent on developing Google Buzz but I think they ignored the first rule of product launch: Market Research. Social Medialites just don’t need another platform – not yet, anyway.

So … the Big Question: Do you Buzz?

P.S. I’m on twitter: www.twitter.com/tonyseifart

    Hi,

started buzzing just to see what it’s about, I don’t think it’s anything special. It’s not gonna make me switch platforms, it’s not even special enough for me to keep on buzzing. + not many people are using it (I think?!?), so what’s the point. I’ll rather stay with Facebook and Twitter – Thank You!

Funny thing is I was resetting some details in my Gmail today and I hapened to notice that Buzz was still in there. I deleted it.

As far as market research is concerned, do you think it was wise to choose a name that is makes one think of swatters and flies.

    How do you delete Buzz?

For me Google has always been a market leader and I sort-of get the feeling that they’re being “followers” now …

    1. Android was released after iPhone’s popularity
    2. Buzz followed twitter
    3. Wave … ok, that was just a big flop.

How will they respond to the iPad?
