Do you Buzz?

The last two products released by Google have been complete flops in my personal opinion.

Firstly, there’s Google Wave – which was meant to completely redefine the way we collaborate and work on projects together. There was the big hype, the exclusivity and the total need to get an invite and now … Blam! Splat! I don’t know anyone who has asked me for my Wave details to work on a Project.

And then there is Google Buzz – Google’s answer (if any) to the wonderful world of Twitter. No Character Limits is supposed to be the big appeal but for once, I think, Google was the Midget trying to squash the Giant. I’m sorry, but I don’t want to log into Gmail to read my Buzz. I already have to keep an eye on my two blogs, facebook and twitter.

I don’t know how much Google spent on developing Google Buzz but I think they ignored the first rule of product launch: Market Research. Social Medialites just don’t need another platform – not yet, anyway.

So … the Big Question: Do you Buzz?

Apple knows how to market!

I have been using my Apple Macbook since 2007 and I absolutely love it. I’m one of those Apple Zealots that insist that everyone needs to use an Apple. This is mainly because it means that I would have to deal less with people who have problems with their PCs.

And because I’m a total Poodle, I love toys and gadgets and things that are shiny.

So for the last few months there has been a lot of talk about the Apple Tablet, or what the blogosphere is calling the iSlate – it’s supposed to be Apple’s new innovation.

And you can’t believe how many people are already saving up for a product that doesn’t even exist yet! They don’t even know what it’s called – they just want one. Sometimes I think Apple must embed drugs into the plastic of their goodies, that makes users totally addicted to their product. But I cannot think of any other company that has such a loyal following. Not even Google’s Android phone drummed up as much excitement.

Most Microsoft/PC users are stuck in it because they insist on the price. Some people I know refuse to use Apple because they don’t want to be Evangelists.

I’m still not sure about my feelings on the iSlate. While I think the iPhone is an awesome piece of technology, I’m not sure of my feelings of an expanded version posing as a tablet. The PC-Tablets were, in my opinion, a complete flop. They were highly overpriced and very buggy. Sure, technology has moved along nicely and Apple is sure to surprise, but I’ll reserve judgement on the product.

What does intrigue me is the position that apple has found itself in. Since the launch of the iPod it has such a loyal following and every blog will talk about them. Who needs FTC regulations, right? I think everyone should want to be in that position!

Finding Clients during a recession

Every time I speak to a business owner they tell me that they’re just surviving. As long as I can survive this recession I’ll be ok. I must admit that I’ve allowed that kind of thinking to enter my brain too.

The last week I’ve been thinking that if I want things to change I need to look at things differently. Why do I need to survive the recession? Why not Thrive the Recession? Companies like MacDonald’s and Disney were both started in the middle of a Recession! We’re in good company!

So I did a little survey and found that the biggest problem business owners currently have is that they can’t find clients during a recession. This is a biggy. I mean, if you can’t find prospects then you can’t sell, right? Some people are running up huge phone bills trying to “cold call”. I call this strategy “hunting mosquitoes with shot-guns”. We are hoping to get our message out. It’s not effective and it’s incredibly demoralizing.

So is there a better way?

Of course! (Or this would be a pointless post)

I would like to show you an easy-to-implement strategy that will get prospects to look for you, instead of the other way around. I’ve been doing it for a few weeks (as a trial) for a friend and we are finding about 4-10 prospects are contacting US every single day looking for her product. That is surely a lot easier than trying to find clients!

I would like to show you exactly the system works. Please let me know if you’d like a spot as I can only cater for 30 people!
